Why Choose Mercury Massage? FAQ

Writer: Mercury Massage & BodyworkMercury Massage & Bodywork

Welcome back to Mercury! Today I want to talk about who we are and what we do. In this blog, you will also find some frequently asked questions.

What is Mercury Massage & Bodywork?

We are a therapeutic massage establishment in Webster, TX, specializing in therapeutic massage, sports, and physical rehabilitation assistance.

What is That?

Therapeutic massage is the application of soft tissue manipulation that includes techniques such as myofascial release, scar tissue mobilization, stretching, and range of motion movements during your massage session. These modalities promote freedom of movement, lengthen muscles, increase blood & lymphatic circulation, and reduce connective tissue restrictions.

Why Do We Do It?

Our mission is to work with athletes of all skill levels from amateur to professional trying to stay in their game! Our experience includes Olympians, dancers, Ironman, and runners!

We also empower health & wellness regimens and complement physical therapy. We aim to work with healthcare providers to help us achieve this for our community.

At Mercury, we also want to promote a positive mind/body connection. This is why we also offer a variety of Swedish massages designed to provide therapeutic relaxation, induce rest & digest, release endorphins, and reduce pain for chronic pain management.

What Else Does Mercury Offer?

Mercury also offers light therapies to accelerate healing and to help with conditions, using FDA-approved and certified infrared technology discovered by NASA. We also use products thoroughly vetted to be safe and gentle, while providing other benefits such as anti-aging and firming properties with each session.

We are excited to bring you a different massage experience focused on clearly defined goals and outcomes between you and our educated therapists that is safe and professional so that you can get the best out of your road to healing & well-being!

FAQ:

  1. What are your rates? Our basic rate for a Swedish massage is comparable to a non-membership price at your local franchise establishment. We set our prices to reflect our experience/education, and the quality of our products, with the commitment to you that every visit will be a comfortable, positive experience. Prices begin at $120 60min Swedish, and up.

  2. Why Quality? Unfortunately, our profession is saturated with under-educated therapists, devious behavior, and even human trafficking. Our mission is to flip the narrative of this situation and re-introduce massage as a health care service defined by our governing laws and regulations. As we grow in size, we will invest in a new generation of therapists through education, ethics, and integrity.

  3. I want to come but will it be within my budget? We have a variety of packages, monthly plans, and memberships that can provide you with a discount for our services. We also have a Doctor's Orders program for individuals actively receiving care through their doctor who has been prescribed/recommended massage therapy. It is designed much like a treatment plan based on your doctor's orders, at a steeply discounted rate.

  4. Do I have to get undressed? No. No person who comes to Mercury is ever required to dress down to receive therapy, although it may change how you receive your service. For example, Swedish or relaxation massage is touch-based and requires using moisturizing oils on the skin. However, many different techniques can be performed through clothing. Additionally, we practice modest draping, provide spa garments, and create a private environment for each individual.

  5. I was recently injured. Can I still come in? If you have recently acquired an injury, we will discuss how it happened and how it affects you. Some injuries require medical attention beyond what we can provide.

Acute muscle spasms (the kind that locks you up with sharp/pinching pain), for example, are not a condition you want to massage right away due to the high occurrence of rebound spasms. Some spasms can even be indicative of structural issues such as herniated discs and radiculopathy.

Another example is motor vehicle collisions or MVA. If you have been involved in an MVA you should be seen by a doctor. We will perform massage within 72 hrs of your collision with a Doctor's clearance, otherwise, we will not accept clients within 72 hrs of an MVA and will refer you to a physician before performing therapy.

Our philosophy is "When in doubt, refer out." There are many reasons why NOT to get a massage, including recent surgeries (< 6 weeks) and uncontrolled chronic conditions (i.e. BP, BG, blood clots), or taking certain medications.

  6. Do you take insurance? We are currently in the process of bringing the option to use insurance and care credit. Follow us on Facebook for updates!

  7. What if I'm not sure? We believe in education and informed consent. We will get you in the right direction.

If you're not sure if Mercury is right for you, call or text us to set up a free consultation to discuss questions or concerns, what you have, how you have it, and the many ways we can help you.
